Dates Saturdays, Feb 6, 13 and 20, 2027
The Antiqua alphabet is one of the timeless classics of calligraphy. In this workshop, we will explore its origins, letterforms and the quality of line. From there, we will transform it into a more contemporary interpretation while experimenting with its ornamental possibilities. As the letters begin to interact, they will engage in a joyful dialogue, evolving from clear, legible words into pure form and ornament.
Andrea is a German calligrapher and book maker of international renown. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is represented in private and public collections, including the Berlin Calligraphy Collection, the Center for Book Arts and the Harrison Collection both in San Francisco, and the International Museum of Contemporary Calligraphy in Moscow.
